CCg was founded in 2008 in response to the significant increase in poverty, lack of opportunities, food poverty and poor inter faith respect, understanding and tolerance with our diverse community.
Through our centre, we deliver several activities and projects aimed at breaking barriers within the community whilst addressing the issues mentioned above.
One of our current projects, titled ‘My Food’ was developed and implemented to address food poverty within the local and neighbouring communities with the aim of transitioning people/families away from the dependence and frequenting of our food banks.
To do this, we have organised a weekly Cooking Demonstration and Dining Together club where the participants (who come from the local community, our service users and users of our food bank/s) learn how to and are encouraged to transform food they have at home (which they will not use and most likely end up throwing out) into nutritional and wholesome meals without breaking the bank.
