Together Against Loneliness: The Power of Connection
Recent findings reveal that Glasgow North East faces a significant challenge with loneliness and social isolation. According to a poll by The Belonging Forum, 17% of residents in this area report having no close friends. Despite being in Scotland's largest city, two in five people are dissatisfied with their lives, and one in four feel unsafe walking in their neighbourhood after dark.
We at the CCG understand the importance of tackling loneliness and fostering a sense of belonging. Our morning coffee gatherings are a testament to the power of community connections and shared experiences. The Belonging Forum's research emphasizes the need for practical initiatives, such as improved shared spaces, inter-generational socials, and local events, which align with our group's mission.
We encourage everyone, regardless of location, to consider how they can combat social isolation in their communities. Whether attending local events, participating in neighbourhood projects, or simply reaching out to a neighbour, every action counts.
Our morning coffee sessions serve as an inspiration. Let's take these lessons to heart and work towards building a more connected, supportive society. Together, we can make a difference, one cup of coffee at a time.
