The cut's that have been made to welfare have a dramatic affect on the most vulnerable members of our communities.
Because of this a various other contributing factors we have seen a dramatic increase in people using our services.
The provision of food parcels and food aid has grown significantly in Scotland and the rest of the UK in the last eight years.
In 2009, there was one foodbank operating in Scotland.
By April 2017, this had increased to 52, with 119 centres - some operate ‘satellite’ foodbank centres in various locations in the surrounding area.
Five of the foodbanks are in Glasgow. Across the UK there are 427 foodbanks, as of April 2017. Aside from those foodbanks, there are other foodbanks run by a range of organisations, however the exact scale is not clear.
