Providing help to people in need 🙌

Our good friend Donna Foote contacted CCG Crookston community group yesterday to refer a lady that was in need of a food parcel as she had no money and has moved into a new flat while being pregnant in Drumchapel. It was late and the staff delivery drivers and volunteers had gone home nonetheless the email was picked up by the CCG committee. I received a call from the lady in the morning so we went down to CCG offices in Beltrees road and made up a food parcel which included toiletries. She had no basics i.e tin opener, knife, cutting board etc so the chairperson and I purchased all the items along with fresh fruit and vegetables and bread from Silverburn Tesco and delivered it to the flat. #loveWhen we arrived at the address she was waiting outside the door and invited us inside as she could not carry the bags. We have masks hand sanitisers gloves and of course we keep a safe distance at all times. Sorry i forgot to mention that it was a high rise flat and we took the odd number left and not the even number lift so had to walk back down 3 flights of stairs NUMPTIES 🤪. Anyway, with tears in her eyes the lady thanked us many many times the special phone line that has been set up by GCC Glasgow City Council during this pandemic receives many calls like this from desperate people and the referrals are sent on to CCG Crookston community group to make the parcels and deliver them. We are supported by #Swamp #G53together and many more partners that make this service possible.
