Our Stories and Raffle
Here at CCG we love to help people, it's the reason we strive to help as many people as we can in our community and anywhere else where our services are needed. We are particularly touched when our volunteers and service users share their stories with us and open up about their struggles. For us hearing how we have changed someone's life for the better wither that be a small contribution such as a food parcel or even giving them opportunities as a volunteers to build confidence, learn new skills, enjoy a delicious free lunch prepared fresh by our chef daily and free bus travel. One of our volunteers Peter has recently opened up to us about how CCG has changed his life. It all started 2 years ago when peter was going through a hard time, he found CCG through a Glasgow volunteer website and became part of our team. At first Peter struggled with confidence, he was quiet and didn't talk much, but with the help of our outstanding committee members such as Tariq and Nasreen and our lovely volunteers Peter was able to open up more. Peters duties were to deliver food parcels which he enjoyed, it gave him purpose again and made him happy to help those in need. As time went on he started helping our at our Ladymuir premises and made more friends there, in August 2020 Peter started working on Tiffin and this has been a great project for him building confidence and learning new skills. Today Peter is an essential part of CCG and we need him just as much as he needs us, we support each other and have made a friend for life.
We also drew our raffle today the winners were Dan and Michael! Dan won a cleaning hamper full of goodies and Michael won our beauty hamper. We raised our £200 with this raffle and this will go towards our fight to end food poverty in our community. Videos of the winners being drawn can be found on our Facebook page 'Crookston Community Group'. This is just the beginning, we have many more great prizes to be won to keep an eye on our socials for our next raffle. Thank you for your continued support of CCG. A big thank you to all our volunteers and staff who make everything we do possible. A special thanks to Glasgow City Council for always supporting us.
