A CCG volunteer was generous enough to go and collect food from Panda and Co-Op which he then had gone and taken it to a local homeless shelter. There was a vast amount of food as you can see below in the pictures which was very generous of him and we hope the people at the homeless shelter enjoys the food.
CCG and Home-Start had an amazing meeting the other day. Home-Start is a company which focuses on helping families through challenging times they support 2009 families, 7397 children and they've trained 702 volunteers which is incredible. . To continue our mission to prevent food waste CCG prides itself on partnering with local KFC restaurants who very kindly donate surplus chicken each night to our Volunteers this is then re-distributed to individuals and family's in need. This is an example of seven bags of fresh chicken which helped feed five families with three of which were single parents. The CCG stores are running low due too the number of people needing help increasing so dramatically recently. CCG had recently received a food donation from Co-Op and they then brought it to Broomloan Nursery, there were several buns and rolls which will last the nursery a while. Do you know how much food is wasted per year worldwide? Roughly one third! But here at CCG we try to take to reduce food wastage and instead give it to local families. One of our volunteers at CCG got the excess food below from Greggs and fed local families with it instead of allowing it to go to waste. There will be a Summer event at CCG for kids, any child from age 5-16 years old is welcome to come to the event. This is also all free. They will be provided with a lunch and drink and there will also be the chance for them to make new friends.
We will also teach them about healthy eating so there will be a learning experience which will be beneficial.

Thank you to The East Ren Center for gathering up excess food from Ramadan and giving it to Crookston Community Group. Thanks to East Ren Center we were able to give out home made meals with our fair share further preventing the food wastage crisis.
