Delectable Chick Pea Curry

Last week's Fair Food Transformation allowed us to create a lovely, homely chickpea curry. This is a perfect heartwarming curry dish which can be served with chapati or even rice. Have a look below for the recipe!

CHICK PEA CURRY

Want to use the cans of chick peas that were piled up in the kitchen cabinet for a long time and transform in to chick pea curry.

INGREDIENTS

2 cans of chick peas

2 medium size onions

2 tomatoes

1tsp ginger paste

1tsp garlic paste

3 table spoon oil

1 tsp salt

½ tsp red chilli flakes

½ tsp turmeric

1/2 tsp garam masala powder

1 tsp cumin seeds

1 tsp coriander powder

2 table spoons chopped fresh coriander

DIRECTIONS

Heat deep lidded sauce pan or a medium size wok and add oil.

Slice the onions and add to the oil fry onions until they are caramelized then add ginger garlic paste and chopped tomatoes and mix.

Take them off the heat and put onions into a blender and make a puree put the puree back into the sauce pan add all spices and stir on medium heat, add 2 table spoon of water and stir

When oil comes up add chick peas including water of the chick peas simmer on high heat for 5 minutes cover the sauce pan turn down the heat and let them cook another 20 minutes until water is evaporated.

Garnish with fresh coriander, serve with chapatti or rice along with red onion and tomato salad with squeeze on a lemon juice.
