As some of you might know, Morrisons recently launched a box of "wonky" veg. The box contains around 4kg of seasonal veg that's a little less than perfect - but hey, aren't we all!? Last night, one of our workers Suzanne, was walking through the city center when she noticed Sanda - who is pictured above - on the streets handing out food of all kinds to the homeless. Suzanne spoke to Sandra and learned that she does all of this off her own back, with no help. Of course we had to step in a give her a donation to help her continue to do her good work. An estimated 1.35 million tonnes of food and drink in Scotland was wasted in 2016, according to new figures released by Zero Waste Scotland. The figure, which covers all quantifiable food and drink waste in Scotland, gives the most detailed insight yet into the true scale of the food we waste. We had such a great meeting with the gang from SWAMP, this morning. Very productive and the ideas were just flying around the room! The guys are going to be helping us create some YouTube videos and launch a crowd funding campaign. Keep an eye out for some new and exciting things coming over the next few weeks! We recently had an afternoon in OneStop on Crookston Road. Some of our lovely staff and volunteers were there to raise awareness in the local community in regards to the need for food banks and, of course, donations. OneStop have been great and often donate food and household items to us, so a massive thank you to them! On the day we raised an amazing £82 and had lots of food donations from customers.
